BUKIT JALIL, Oct 17 (Bernama) — MIMOS Bhd’s unit, MIMOS Semiconductor (M) Sdn Bhd, has signed a Collaborative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) to develop graphene electronic technology to enhance both their competitive advantage in the technology and applications, especially in advanced materials for electronic devices.
In a statement today, MIMOS said the RADA documents were exchanged on the sidelines of the five-day National Innovation and Creative Economy Expo 2017 which ended Tuesday
MIMOS was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Ahmad Rizan Ibrahim, and Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Muhammad Shatar Sabran represented the university, it said
“Under the collaboration, both MIMOS and UPSI will jointly develop the technology, exchange research expertise, and increase the number of patents including joint-publication in graphene electronics and related technologies.
Ahmad Rizan said the collaboration would increase MIMOS’ strength in the advanced electronics sector through innovation in product development by introducing new and advanced materials into electronic components.
“One of the specific projects identified for this collaboration was in the development of graphene sensors and heat spreader for thermal management in electronic devices,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Shatar said the collaboration would enable UPSI to pursue additional lines of research that would ultimately contribute to the university’s productivity and increase the number of high-impact publications. – Bernama
